Indian child rights activist Kailash Satyarthi and Pakistan's Malala Yousafzai have been awarded the coveted Nobel Peace Prize for 2014 for the struggle against the suppression of children and for the right of all children to education.
Kailash Satyarthi a Gandhi follower is fighting against child labour since 1990s, has successfully rescued 80,000 children from trafficking and slavery through his 'Bachpan Bachao Andolan.' The Nobel committee hailed the contribution of Satyarthi who hailed several demonstrations, protests for the child rights which are peaceful events. The Norwegian committee also added that the joining of an Indian and a Muslim for common struggle in significant importance.
This award went to various bodies in the previous two years and this year the Nobel award greeted individuals praising their selfless efforts. The winner was chosen from 278 candidates, 47 of them of organizations, the highest overall number of candidates since the prize was first awarded in 1901.
