Congress Loses Opposition Status in Telangana:- TRS has been highly successful in weakening the major opposition parties in the state. After TDP, it is Congress which is left with no prominent leaders. Congress now lost its main opposition status in the state's Assembly after a bunch of MLAs defected and joined TRS. Congress Legislature party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka lost the status of opposition leader in the house. MIM emerged as the second largest party with seven MLAs. Telangana Assembly Secretary Narasimhacharyulu released a statement about this.

Congress now has six MLAs and is disqualified from their current position. Congress won 19 Assembly seats during the December Assembly polls. Uttam Kumar Reddy resigned as MLA and contested for Lok Sabha. After this 12 Congress MLAs joined TRS which brought down the number to six. Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy decided to join BJP and the strength now will come down to five for Congress. The party high command is yet to make any comments on this.
