Farmer Suicides: YS Jagan Announces Ex-gratia of Rs 7 Lakhs:- The Andhra Pradesh Government announced an ex-gratia of Rs 7 lakhs as compensation to the families of farmers who killed themselves in the last five years. This is a huge move by YS Jaganmohan Reddy who took on TDP Government. YS Jagan revealed that 1513 farmers passed away in the last five years but only 391 families received compensation from the government. YS Jagan announced immediate compensation for these families. YS Jagan told District Collectors and SPs that the figures of the farmer suicides were from the District Crime Records Bureau.

He even asked the officials to gather the data from the respective districts and ensure that the families of the deceased receive the compensation on time without any delay. Several farmers ended their lives due to crop loss or for the failure of getting loans and other issues. "Governance should progress on humanitarian grounds with welfare as the goal and there should not be any complaints on the ex-gratia issue," said a press release from CM's Office.
