A Rajasthan Man sleeps for 300 days a year due to Axis Hypersomnia:- It is quite shocking but a man from Nagaur district of Rajasthan sleeps 20-25 days in a month and 300 days per year. It is due to a rare medical condition which is known as Axis Hypersomnia. He is named as the real-life Kumbhakarna by the villagers. The 42-year-old Purkharam owns a grocery shop in the village of Bhadwa and he operates it for five days in a month due to Axis Hypersomnia. His condition was traced 23 years ago and his family members feed him, arrange a bath when he is asleep. Axis Hypersomnia is a neurological sleep disorder that leads to sleep for more than 10 hours in a day. A study was published in National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) which says that the excessive daytime sleep will impact 4-5 percent of the population and he turns a patient.

An analysis said that Axis Hypersomnia may happen because of the genetic reason or a head injury, having depression or due to drugs or alcohol. All those who are suffering with Axis Hypersomnia will struggle to wake up despite of several alarms. They also start their day feeling groggy which is known as sleep drunk. It may lead to frustration, irritation, depression and anxiety. It is always advised to consult a doctor if you are experiencing such problems. The doctors monitor your sleeping habits and they will advice blood tests computed tomography (CT) scans, and a sleep test called polysomnography. Delaying the treatment will keep your life at risk. The treatment for Axis Hypersomnia is based on medication and antidepressants. Do not consume alcohol and coffee if you have such symptoms.
