India emerging, BMW not want to left behind, launching MINI

BMWCarIt really looks right now working for the world’s largest luxury car maker from Germany BMW re-planning to launch its Mini sub-brand in India by the end of the current year. Despite speculative approach to the launch which was put on hold earlier, the company has finalized on the launch the car, to reach 10,000 sales mark this year.

The Mini will cost whopping Rs 25 Lakhs when launched in India in 2012 the price tag will make Mini the most expensive small hatchback in the country. Dr Andreas Schaaf, who assumed charge as President of BMW India Private Limited in 2010 after the luxury carmaker attained numero uno position, has the onerous responsibility of retaining the top slot. With the successful launch of BMW's baby SUV, X1 in December 2010 and rolling out of new generation BMW X3 SUV last week, BMW India is confident of riding over the slowdown and cementing its position at the top.

“When Mini has been launched in most of the countries, there is no reason why India should not have the one. I am pleased to announce that Mini will be introduced in India in 2012,” said BMW India president Andreas Schaaf on Monday, adding, “currently, the BMW team is evaluating which version to be launched in India from the entire Mini family.” Mini would be sold in India through import of completely built units (CBU).
