Tamil Nadu chief minister Karunanidhi will accompany his daughter Kanimozhi when she will make an appearance in the CBI court at Delhi on May 6 in the 2G spectrum scam.
The CBI Court issued summons to Kanimozhi asking her to appear before it on May 6 after the CBI filed a supplementary charge sheet on April 25 and named her as one of the accused. The charge sheet says Kanimozhi was a co-conspirator in the entire 2G Spectrum scam.
As the possibility of Kanimozhi being arrested by the CBI on May 6 is very strong, the DMK has requested eminent lawyer Ram Jethmalani to take up her case. Jethmalani, who earlier refused to take up the case of former communications minister A. Raja, has now agreed to defend her in the case, according to sources.
The CBI has cited Karunanidhi's wife, Dayalu Ammal, who holds 60% shares in Kalaignar TV, as a witness. Kalaignar TV managing director Sharad Kumar has also been summoned by the court to appear along with Kanimozhi.
