
A leading Telugu TV channel telecast a news story today saying that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is likely to expand his cabinet on Wednesday elevating the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee to the rank of Deputy Prime Minister and inducting the senior congress MP from AP Mr Kishore Chandra Dev into the Cabinet.
The story says that one or two senior congress MPs of Telangana region may also be inducted into the Union Cabinet to satisfy the elements supporting the cause of Telangana and to see that the T agitation loses its tempo.
After elevating the present finance minister as Deputy Prime Minister, the Prime Minister may induct Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluvalia or the former governor of Reserve Bank Dr. C. Rangarajan in place of Mukherjee to handle the finance ministry.
The story says that the Law Minister Veerappa Moily may lose his portfolio as the PM is thinking of handing over the department to Pawan Kumar Bansal.
