Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Union home minister P Chidambaram today paid tributes to the former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Dorjee Khandu, who was killed in a helicopter crash along with four others on April 30.
The three of them had earlier arrived at the Lilabari Airport in Assam by a special flight from Delhi and then flew to Itanagar by IAF helicopters.
After alighting from the helicopters, they straight away drove to the Nitin Vihar residence of Khandu and paid wreaths on his body. They sat and prayed for 20 minutes and then flew to Lilabari Airport in Assam from where they left for Delhi by the special flight.

Thousands of people had earlier gathered near Khandu’s official residence and paid their last respects to the departed leader.
