The Karnataka BJP Cabinet, at an emergency meeting in Bangalore today presided over by the chief minister BS Yedyurappa, passed a resolution demanding the Governor HR Bharadwaj, to summon the state assembly from June 2.
The cabinet passed the resolution and sent it to the Governor after Bharadwaj refused to summon the assembly from May 16.
Parliamentary affairs minister S Suresh Kumar told media persons after the emergency meeting of the cabinet that it was felt necessary to recommend to the Governor to summon the Assembly and Council for 10 days from June 2.
The emergency cabinet meeting of the state comes a day after the Governor recommended to the Centre that the assembly be kept in suspended animation and President’s Rule imposed in the state following the Supreme Court verdict quashing the disqualification of the five independents and 11 BJP MLAs earlier by the Assembly Speaker.
Bharadwaj unfit to be Governor: BJP
The BJP central leadership today said in a statement that Bharadwaj was unfit to work as governor and demanded the Centre to recall him.
Senior BJP leaders including M Venkaiah Naidu and Dharmendra Pradhan asked the Prime Minister not to accept the Governor’s recommendation for the imposition of President’s rule in the state.
