Non-bailable arrest warrant on Sanjay Dutt

Non-bailable arrest warrant on Sanjay DuttJudicial Magistrate Krishna Kumar of Mau in UP today issued non-bailable arrest warrant for the Bollywood hero Sanjay Dutt for not attending the court despite several summons in a case relating to the violation of model code of conduct.

A case was pending against Dutt for the last two years and the court served several summons asking him to come for the hearing repeatedly but the actor ignored the summons.

A case was booked against Dutt after he made controversial remarks during his campaign for his Samajwadi Party candidate Mr Arshad Jamal in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. Dutt campaigned for Jamal in his capacity as the general secretary of the party.

The court also directed Jamal to appear before the court along with Dutt and asked the Superintendent of Police and DIG of Azamgarh to serve the summons through the local police officials.

The court warned that it would take action against the police officials if they do not submit a report on serving of summons by July 8.
