Anna Hazare sits on 1-day token fast

Anna Hazare sits on 1-day token fastLaunching his one-day token fast at the Raj Ghat in Delhi this morning protesting against the brutality meted out to the yoga guru Baba Ram Dev and his supporters at the Ramlila Maidan Saturday night, 73-year old Gandhian Anna Hazare warned the Centre that he would go on an indefinite fast at Jantar Mantar from August 16 if the government doesn’t ensure the passage of the Lok Pal Bill in Parliament by then.

Addressing thousands of his supporters who descended on the Raj Ghat to show solidarity with him, Anna Hazare descried movement as the second battle of independence. “Please refrain from violence. If we indulge in violence, the government will crush the movement,” Hazare told his supporters.

Hazare announced that government should not forget the fact that people are the real masters. “You behave as if you are the masters and it is not good for you,” he warned the government amid cheers of crowds who included hundreds of fans of Baba Ram Dev.
