A Pakistani political party has publicly demanded a ban on the Bible, and set a 30-day deadline for the Supreme Court to take action in this regard.Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam- Samiul Haq (JUI-S), one of the political parties of Pakistan, has asked the country’s Supreme Court to ban the Bible in the country. The party has given a deadline of 30 days to the Court from today to take suitable action on the demand, the Express Tribune said quoting party leader Maulana Abdur Raoof Farooqi.
Farooqi said the holy book of Christians contains blasphemous passages that caused humiliation to Muslims. “If the Supreme Court does not take any action against the Bible, the issue will be referred to an independent tribunal that may comprise of judges from the Federal Shariat Court,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan People’s Party MP Mr A Pervez Rafique, a member of the central organizing committee of the All Pakistan Minorities Alliance, said came down heavily on the demand of the JUI-S and requested the court not to take any action against the Bible.
