Penguins witness solar eclipse in joy

The partial solar eclipse that occurred between 1.23 PM IST and 2.09 PM IST today was only witnessed by the penguins and sea birds in the south pole of the planet earth as its visibility was restricted to the Antarctica area.

Partial solar eclipses of this type, occurring over the polar region, are very peculiar as the main shadow of the moon avoids the earth on such occasions.

The partial solar eclipse ended as a southern hemisphere event leaving disappointment to the amateur astronomers and sky gazers but brining joy to the sea birds and penguins.
