Apex Court constitutes SIT on black money

Apex Court constitutes SIT on black moneyTo speed up the process of investigation being carried out by the Centre to bring the black money back into the country from foreign banks, the Supreme Court today appointed a high-level special investigation team (SIT) to monitor the steps being taken in this regard by the Centre.

The high level committee will be headed by the former apex court judge B.P. Jeevan Reddy and will have former judge of the SC Justice M.B. Shah as its vice-chairman.

The Supreme Court bench, consisting of the justices B. Sudershan Reddy and S.S. Nijjar, also ordered that the High-Level Committee (HLC) constituted by the government to look into the issue of black money would forthwith be made a part of the SIT.

The bench also asked the Government to make public the names of all those who have been issued show cause notices by the authorities in connection with the probe into the black money issue.
