In an interesting turn of events that may spell doom for the BJP in Karnataka, the corruption-afflicted chief minister Mr BS Yeddyurappa today changed his stand and once again refused to resign his post.
Senior BJP leaders M.Venkaiah Naidu and Rajnath Singh met Yeddyurappa at his residence in Bangalore and tried to convince him of the need to quit the post in the best interest of the party in the state but the defiant chief minister said a big ‘no’ to the party top brass.
A solid backing of 12 MPs and 45 MLAs of the party to the tainted chief minister was said to be the reason for Yeddyurappa to change his stand.
Finding no way to go, the BJP leadership has cancelled the meeting of the BJP legislature party scheduled this evening. In this backdrop, rumours are also doing the rounds in the political corridors that the state assembly may be dissolved at any moment now.
