Liquor parties thrive on Anna’s fasting bed

Liquor parties thrive on Anna’s fasting bed Gandhian Anna Hazare’s movement for a strong Lok Pal Bill has no doubt inspired the entire county into becoming conscious of the need to possess a corruption-free society but certainly it dampened the spirits of some youngsters.

As long as Anna fasted on the pedestal of the Ramlila Maidan, some people waited with hope day after day looking for the withdrawal of his fast so that they could use the place for their nefarious and anti social activities.

The very next day after Anna gave up his fast and was taken to a hospital, some anti-social elements were seen sitting on Anna’s soft bed and consuming alcohol.

The rowdy elements even threatened some journalists with dire consequences when the latter tried to take photographs. However, some journalists secretly photographed them.

They argued that the podium of the Ramlila Maidan is their permanent place for drinking and when Anna continued his fast there, they were left with no place to drink alcohol.  “We had to run for pillar to post for our liquor parties,” they said.

They said they had regularly visited the ground during Anna’s fasting days with the fond hope he would give up his fast enabling them regain their favourite spot of consuming alcohol. “We waited for 12 days with patience,” they said unabashedly.

Reacting to the misuse of the Ramlila Maidan ground, police said they would take action against those who misused it.
