55 people were killed and 30 persons injured, some of them critically, when an explosives-laden car exploded in front of the office of the Education Ministry in Mogadishu, the Somali capital, on Tuesday.
This is the biggest attack since an Islamist insurgent group withdrew from Mogadishu, according to senior officials of the Government.
The prominent local militant group Al-Shabab, a subsidiary of the al-Qaida, claimed responsibility for the attack on its website. The militant outfit has been waging an insurgency war against the frivolous Somalia Government backed by the UN.
