Tamil Nadu police had found a five-ft pipe bomb under a bridge 30 km off Madurai city in Tamil Nadu this morning. The bridge is on the route which BJP top leader LK Advani was to take minutes later.
Advani, who has the highest “Z-plus” category security, was on second leg of his yatra against corruption. Police said Advani has proceeded on his Jana Chetana Yatra as usual after the bomb has been defused.
Police said the bomb, connected to wires, was found under a bridge at Alampatti near Tirumangalam. Police have taken into custody a person identified as Nehru and he is being questioned. Mr. Advani later addressed a huge public meeting at Tirumangalam.
