Lover boy ditches minor girl, seeing cops on their heels

LoverBoyThe man identified as Shrikant Bhimao Davre had planned eloping with his fiancée, a sixteen year old girl and succeeded in convincing her for the plan, but failed her expectations miserably after sensing police were back tracking them, on a complaint from the girl’s parents. After four days of going around, he dumped her on seeing cops.

According to officials from the Warje-Malwadi police station, Davre deserted the girl in the holy town of Pandharpur after seeing the police, who were looking for the two following a complaint by the girl's relatives. They said Davre was a regular visitor at the girl's home over the past few years. They said the two began an affair a while ago and were planning to get married as soon as possible. The girl is a first-year junior college student at the Mamasaheb Mohol Vidyalay. The police said on the morning of October 24 she had gone to a tailor to pick up some clothes when she met Davre there. "The man talked the girl into eloping with him and promised to marry her, and the girl readily agreed. He first said they would go to his sister's place in Hadapsar but then took her to Solapur, Ahmednagar, Nashik and back to Solapur over a period of four days," said a police official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

When the girl's parents and relatives got wind of the development, they kept calling the accused but did not succeed in tracing the two. The police said Davre always kept the girl in the dark about their next move. Finally, the relatives found out the two were in Pandharpur and approached the police, who sent a two-man team to the holy city along with the girl's younger brother. When the team spotted the two in a busy street, Davre fled the spot, deserting the girl. The girl was reportedly in a dazed state of mind and was brought to her aunt's place in Mumbai. Police Sub-Inspector A K Jarkad said Davre did not have a steady job and earned his living doing menial work. "We still haven't traced him, but we will catch him soon," Jarkad said.
