Madurai police today found a crude bomb in a lunch box near Thiruvathavur, 15 km off the city. Police rushed to the spot along with bomb squads and defused the bomb.
Reports said that the crew of a bus found the lunch box unclaimed and fearing it for a bomb, took it out and kept it under a water tank cautiously and asked people to keep off. Immediately, a local youth informed the police about it.
Police immediately rushed to the spot and found a crude bomb in the box. The explosive device was defused within minutes preventing an explosion.
The bus crew found at Melur around 7 am that the lunch box was lying unclaimed and immediately took it out. Police are questioning the bus crew as part of the investigation. (JUBS)
