13 killed in Manila plane crash

13 persons were killed, most of them children, and some others injured when a six-seat Queen Air plane crashed into residential localities near Manila’s international airport today soon after take off.

The plane crashed into a thickly populated playing ground behind a school, according to city police officials. City police Chief M. Manuel said that 13 bodies have been recovered and most of them were children who were playing on the ground.

Several others suffered burn injuries and have been rushed to various hospitals, city mayor Mr. Bernabe said. “The condition of some of them is very serious,” he said.

Bernabe further said more than 50 houses caught fire due to the crash and fire tenders were busy extinguishing the fire. (JUBS)
