Fire at Sriharikota Space centre, no loss of life, equipment razed to ashes

Shar is located in Sriharikota Island of Andhra Pradesh. Working under the Vikram Sarabhai Space Center, Indian Space Research Organization-Department of Space. Spread out on a vast area of 56 square miles with a coastal length of 16.7 miles.
The fire, which broke out at the Sriharikota High Altitude Range (SHAR) Centre, the country's space port, early today, was extinguished. Fire occurred, in the Satish Dhawan space centre, due to an electric short circuit in one of the buildings. The fire razed to ashes costly equipment like an X-Ray Machine which inspects the rocket fuel. Initial reports suggest that huge equipment damages could have occurred. An official statement is yet to be issued. No loss of life has been reported.
It may be noted, that Satellites like the Geo-synchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) and Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) were launched from the SHAR Centre in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. SHAR is located on Sriharikota Island, Nellore district, (Andhra Pradesh) on India's east coast. The centre was renamed to its present name in 2002 after the death of ISRO's former Chairman Satish Dhawan. (Aarkay)
