Human sacrifice despised by the society as brutal killing is still prevailent in certain parts of the country. For selfish motives, people resort to such sacrifices.
Spine chilling murder of an innocent teenager, by selfish individuals, was a scheme to revive a secret treasure trove in Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh. On Thursday, police exhumed the body of the 14-year old Poosapatri Ganesh, student of Class IX, at Nirmal's dilapidated Shyamghad fort. The boy was reported missing by his father, Narsaiah, a tailor by profession. Police started the investigations and found that the boy was last seen with Rathod Raju. On interrogation, found that Raju along with Prabhakar allegedly throttled the boy to death before burying him in the trench, at the fort. The sinful act was committed on January 24th night. Reports say that they had a belief that a human sacrifice on ‘amavasya' (new moon day) would help the duo, in finding treasure. Police is also on the lookout for others who had advised the duo of such a consequence.
The accused, a treasure trove hunter, befriended Ganesh by offering him food and rides on his motorcycle. He apparently had the motive of sacrificing the boy as he was told that it would improve his prospects of hitting upon a big trove of treasure. Police suspicions were strengthened when they found turmeric powder, vermillion, lemon and other puja-related objects close to the boy's body.
Family members, relatives and women's organizations staged a rasta roko in the town on national highway-44 for over three hours, blaming police for their negligence. A murder case has been registered against the duo. Sources revealed that locals believed that the fort was a hidden trove of treasures and many tried their luck by digging in the fort. But this one was gruesome. (With Inputs from Internet-AarKay)
