The girl was kept captive since she was ten years old and treated shabbily by the mistress of the house and sexually assaulted by the master.
The Pakistani girl who was deaf and mute, was kept captive for almost a decade under shabby circumstances in London. The girl was rescued by British police who stormed the premises in 2009. On Monday a trial in Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester, UK brought out the facts in the whole incident as narrated by the girl through an interpreter.
The woman, whose identity is not disclosed, narrated that she was brought as a domestic help in 2000, when she was ten years old by a Pakistani couple. The couple - 83-year-old Ilyas Ashar and his wife, 66-year-old Tallat Ashar - are charged with false imprisonment, human trafficking, sexual offenses, violence and benefit fraud. Both have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to the girl she was confined in a cellar room which did not have any amenity fit for living. The entire day she was asked to do domestic chores and was punished very severely for any mistakes. She was inadequately fed and locked up in the room, where she spent hours of crying in the solitude. Later she identified Ashar, as the man who would often visit her room and abuse her sexually. Poor miserable girl had been rescued by a joint police action. (With inputs from internet: AarKay)
