Eight years after the submission of the charge sheet by CBI in the multi-crore fodder scam, the special CBI court at Patna today framed charges against former Bihar Chief Ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav and Jagannath Mishra, Janata Dal (United) MP Jagdish Sharma and former RJD MP R.K. Rana in the case.
CBI judge VK Srivastava framed the charges against them for fraudulently withdrawing crores of rupees from the state treasury by submitting fake bills between 1994 and 1996.
Both Lalu and Mishra had alleged they had been falsely implicated in the case by the CBI.
CBI filed the charge sheet in the case on March 3, 2003 saying the top politicians of the state had conspired to loot the treasury in the name of fodder bills. (J)
