The Bombay Court has held that divorce cannot be granted only because wife insisted on the use of condom.

Turning down the divorce plea filed by a 30-year-old person Pradeep Bapat, the court has ruled that the decision as to when to start a family cannot be treated as a crime.

The court has also stated that the mother wanted to give a better life to the child and held that it was a mutual decision. Pradeep Bapat in his petition has filed that 26-year-old Prerna denied to have sex with him during the honeymoon until he wears a condom.

Irked over this, the husband approached the court. In his petition, Pradeep Bapat has also said that their family wanted a graduate woman as his wife who would work and also do household duties. The judges have ruled that the complaints—unable to cook properly, doesn’t fold clothes, don’t share salary etc., cannot be treated as crime. They have also said that a wife is not a slave but a better half. (Phani)
