Today being the death anniversary of the former chief minister Rajiv Gandhi, the prime minister Manmohan Singh, AICC president and widow of Rajiv Gandhi-Sonia Gandhi, late prime minister’s son Rahul Gandhi and daughter Priyanka paid homage to the grand son of the first prime minister of India at Veer Bhumi in New Delhi.

It may be recalled that Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by terror outfit LTTE at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu on 21 May 1991 when he campaigned for Sriperumbudur Lok Sabha candidate.

Several other key leaders from Congress party offered flowers at the memorial of Rajiv Gandhi. A large number of school children were also present there who waved the tri-colour flags. The Congress party played a speech of late Rajiv Gandhi at the memorial.    (Phani)
