Maha Govt to look into female infanticide cases

In a major move to put a check to female infanticide, the Maharashtra Government has promised to take action against the rapid female feticide in Beed district. Thanks to CNN-IBN for its sting operation last year on female feticide, which moved Maharashtra Government. Nonetheless, not to forget is Aamir Khan, who threw focus on female infanticide, through the first episode of Satyamev Jayate.

Now, Maharashtra Government will meet Medical Council of India and Indian Medical Association besides radiologists to find out ways for putting an end to barbarous tradition. Actor Aamir Khan feels that only way to curb this evil is to stop sex determination tests. It is known that law prohibits doctors from revealing the sex of the fetus during the general check-up. However, the strong implementation is required and Aamir opined the same.

Social evils still prevail:

“Denigration of women has ruined our society”~Kandukuri Veeresalingam

People like Rajarammohan Roy abolished Sati. And many reformers changed the fate of women in India. But, the barbarous activities are still prevalent in India under the guise of traditions. Who will put an end to this? Should we wait for another Rajarammohan Roy and Kandukuri Veeralingam? It is the duty of every common man to remember that it was a female who introduced him to this world. Not just remembering, but one should raise voice against anything that challenges the safety of a woman.

Although many people know that a woman has no role to play in determining the sex of the baby,  incidents of female infanticides are still hitting headlines. This is primarily because women are treated as burden? But why women are treated as burden? May be because of the social evil dowry… All the morally challenged gentlemen, who demand dowry, should be hanged to death and that would only provide a solution to female infanticide problem.
