Kumbh Mela would begin in Allahabad  from January 14, 2013 and would last till March 10.  Unlike last mela, this Kumbh Mela would be held for 56days. It is known that Kumbh Mela is oen of the big Hindu pilgrimage, which has been followed since time immemorial.  A large number of people-during Kumbh Mela-arrive at ringer Ganges and take holy dip believing that it would wash off their sins. Kumbh Mela is celebrated at different parts depending on Sun and Jupiter are in one planet. Last time Kumbh Mela in Allahabad took place in 2007 and around 70 million people took holy dips in Ganges then.

The Uttar Pradesh government is taking all measures to ensure that Kumbh Mela would go on smoothly.
