The Indian Medical Association has called for nation wide doctors' strike demanding the government for sacking health minister Gulam Nabi Azad besides withdrawing the nominated posts in the country on June 25. The spokespersons of IMA convened this to the media. The representatives of the association have, however, said that emergency cases would be attended.
At a press conference in Hyderabad, several representatives of IMA, have said that doctors, nurses and paramedical staff would take part in the bandh. They said the medical services would come to halt from 9 AM to 9 PM. They have also demanded that consumer protection act should not be applicable to them. Necessary amendments should be made to the bill, they added.
While white collared professionals are looked upon as outstanding individuals, white coat professions (doctors) are considered as Gods, at least in India. That's the reason why an average father in India wants his son to become a doctor, opined educationists. Can Gods call for 'steth down?' The question remains to be rhetorical!
