NR Congress has extended its support to UPA's presidential candidate, Pranab Mukherjee. The decision was made at an internal party meet that took place at Puducherry on Sunday. The party's top leadership has said that the party decided to unanimously support Pranab Mukherjee as dada himself telephone the party members and sought their request over the same.

Addressing the media, Puducherry chief minister N Rangaswamy has said that the party has respect for Sonia Gandhi and that was one of the reasons behind their party deciding to support Pranab. It may be noted that almost all regional parties have extended their support to Pranab Mukherjee and analysts said Pranab is likely to become the next president.
