The war between the two factions of the BJP ruling the Karnataka state may be sorted out at New Delhi by the intervention of the high command. Power struggle by the warring factions seem to take the centre stage and curtains may be drawn down today at the Nation's capital say party sources. On one side is the Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda, who would in all probability like to continue in power and on the other side there is the former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, who has a sizeable entourage of reigning elected members in the assembly. The BSY camp claims that it has more 54 MLAs who are ready to resign enmasse if required. The set back that was going on since some time had gained momentum with the resignation of nine pro-Yeddyurappa ministers from the state cabinet.
On Sunday the BSY camp declared set a date of July 5 for the party to replace Mr Gowda with Jagadish Shettar, the Rural and Panchayati Raj Minister and Mr Yeddyurappa's preferred choice. It is known that the CM who is in Delhi on the pretext of participating in the wedding function of the BJP president Nitin Gadkari's son's wedding shall meet the high command today. Sources say that alongwith Mr Gadkari, Karnataka in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan and other senior leaders will be part of the meeting with Mr Gowda. The political impasse that has clouded over the state might end today reitrate sources.
Earlier a statement is quoted by an ardent follower of the Yeddy's camp."If our neta Yeddyurappa tells us to resign, we will. Karnataka BJP's soul is Yeddyurappa and there is no doubt about that. If they want to strengthen BJP, we have to move with Yeddyurappa. Yeddyurappa is BJP and we will do anything for BJP and Yeddyurappa," said Sanjay Patil, a Yeddyurappa loyalist. However the happiest man in Karnataka would be Mr Jagadish Shettar, as he is the next man to helm the state political affairs, a predominat move with focus on the 2014 general elections.
