New Zealand firm to repair potholes in Mumbai

After a successful demonstration that impressed the Civic Body in Mumbai in the last week of June, the contract to repair the potholes in Mumbai is to be given to the New Zealand Firm Jet patcher Technology.

The civic body talked to the original patent holders of the technology Jet Patcher corporation who would bring their own equipment and skilled labor from New Zealand to work on the potholes lying in the important stretches of the Metro.

3 years ago in 2008, BMC has purchased 3 pothole inject patching machines for Rs.78 Lakhs each and spend a mamoth of funds that amount to Rs 68 crore on the machines for repair and maintenance. Yet, they lie idle for the forth year in a row, due to lack of skilled personnel to operate the heavy machinery and numerous technical problems.

Ravindra Ghodke, Chief Engineer of BMC spoke “ The pothole injectors we possess are from another company and hence the New Zealand firm would bring their own machines and use their patented technology on the roads of Mumbai for which they would be paid accordingly. We would like to see if their technology works on Mumbai”
