Trinamool activist and school teacher gunned down by bikers

Barun Biswas had to pay the price for being a righteous citizen. Barun Biswas, a school teacher at Mitra Institution at Sealdah was gunned down by un identified miscreants on a bike.

Getting off the train at Gobardanga, Barun Biswas was walking to get an auto back home to Gaighata, around 7:45pm on Thursday, when masked biker boys shot a bullet at him from behind. Another bullet struck him in the chest when he turned behind. Biswas fell to the ground on the spot. The miscreants escaped on the bikes.

Biswas was one of the poeple who protested against the Sutia gang rape cases in 2001. He was also the secretary of the forum which was the first to speak against the mafia trouble in the area.

5 members accused in the gang rape in 2001 were arrested and imprisoned for life in 2004. 11 other people involved in the sinful act have been escaping the police ever since. Jyoti Priya Mullick, the state food minister ordered a proper probe of the case to provide justice to the Trinamool activist.
