Prof. Ram Bapat would be sorely missed at the Department of Politics at Pune University. The well known Marathi thinker and political scientist passed away on account of old age and associated illnesses. He was 81.

Ram Bapat worked as the Head of the Department of Pune University. His long and close association in most of the progressive movements in Maharashtra is widely recognised.
He played an active role in providing support with his ideas to countless reformists in many fields like social, political, cultural and economic spheres. He was like a father to all the social activists fighting for justice in Maharashtra.

He was also a powerful orator and and eloquent speaker whose lectures have a great impact on the audience even today.
