After a long wait, Delhi has seen the first of its monsoon rains yesterday on Friday. Rains in many parts of the city have been observed providing relief to the scorching heat wave prevailing in the city since a month.
Showers in the city has made a clear impact on the temperatures in the city. A minimum temperature of 23.2 degrees Celsius was recorded in the city which is 4 notches below the usual. The maximum temperatures are speculated to go down in the few days to come.
Meterological Department has predicted a cool weather with rain and thunderstorms for the nest 48 hours.
The monsoon originally expected to arrive on the 29th of June was delayed by eight long days causing a great deal of trouble in the form of heat, leading to unbearable power and water shortages.
A control room was set up by the North, East and South Delhi municipal corporations to prevent and resolve problems of waterlogging that is expected. The control room takes complaints from the citizens regarding problems of potholes, sanitation and waterlogging and also have the required material and human resources to tackle the problems effectively.
On the other side, the showers of rain have caused a disturbance to the schedules of the flights. 8 flights have been delayed and 6 flights were diverted while 4 others have been cancelled.
