48-hr deadline to police to nab molestors

Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi has set a 48-hour deadline for the state police to nab the shameless people, who allegedly molested a minor girl publicly while it was recorded on the came for about 30 minutes. Notably, nearly 20 persons were said to have molested the girl while 13 persons have been identified so far. And so far only four persons were taken into the custody. Also, a special tast force has been appointed by the chief minister to look into the issue.

Postures have been put up across Guahati asking the people to inform the police about these persons in case they across.  The former IPS officer and Team Anna member spoke to a media channel about the incident. She said there should be a better policing for avoiding such incidents. Meanwhile, advocates opined that the laws should be changed. They said the current laws related to molestation were bailable and all criminal offences related to molestation and sexual abuse should be made non-bailable.
