Two more cases of H1N1 in Pune

In the intensive care unit of Noble Hospital, a 46 year old woman had been isolated in the room and she was tested to be positive for Swine Flu on Thursday. The woman hails from Hadapsar.

PMC medical officer of health, S T Pardeshi said that the throat swab of the woman was sent to National Institute of Virology for confirmation of the Swine Flu which was tested to be positive. The woman is now on non-invasive ventilators to aid her in breathing.

According to Pardeshi, the woman had developed a few symptoms by 12th July and was treated for 3 days by her husband who also is a doctor. She experienced fever and chills. She later developed breathlessness and was then moved to the Noble Hospital on 16th July.

Another person was also confirmed to be H1N1 positive on Thursday. A 53 year old man from Kothrud had also been identified to have Swine Flu however, he has been stable and recovering.

Pune had witnessed 9 cases of Swine Flu since July and one casualty. Harischandra Lonkar, 55, died on July 11th follwing an attack of swine flu. The state has a whopping 146 cases and 7 deaths that were recorded since April.

In 2010 the WHO, World Health Organization had warned people of the intermittent and seasonal outbreaks of the virus for a couple of years at least before the virus dies down.
