Juhu police had arrested Deepak Kevat, a 20-year old, for breaking into Big B Amitabh Bachchan's house on Friday. When questioned he said that he was a fan of the superstar and wanted to catch a glimpse of him. However, a cash of Rs 8000 was recovered from him which was stolen in the residence.
Kevat had broken into the house after he climbed the Gulmohar tree which was adjacent to the house, from which he dropped down on to the tin roof shed which protected the Jalsa from rainwater. He later clambered down from the roof and gained access to the balcony of the bedroom on the top floor. On finding Rs. 8000 in the drawer, he pocketed them and was then spotted by domestic help in the house while he was trying to get away. The alarm raised alerted the security at the house who acted immediately and handed him to the Juhu police.
Kevat has been charged for breaking into a house and has also been remanded to police custody for 14 days, according to Vishwas Nangre Patil, the additional commissioner. He however did not reveal if the superstar and his family were at the place while in incident occurred.
Amitabh had written on hisblog regarding the incident saying that “Spent some anxious moments yesterday since we had a break in! The guy was caught and is with the police now under investigation. Seems like a professional, for he had entered the most sensitive area of the house, Jalsa. Cops and security are in overdrive now. In the end nothing is secure, irrespective of how much precaution one takes.”
