Hindu groups protest against online game SMITE for portraying Goddess Kali in Pornographic style

Several Hindu Groups have united in their protests agains Hi Rez studios an US based company which is the make of the online game SMITE for featuring the sacred Hindu Goddess as a salacious, femme fatale. SMITE is a popular online game in which gods of various mythologies battle against each other. This game features numerous goddesses and gods of different religions. Apart from Kali, Vamana and Agni are also featured in the game.

Protests have been supported by people belonging to many other religions too. Catholics, Jews and Buddhists have supported the Hindus who were upset after their faiths were depicted in the wrong way.  One person has said that the makers of the game have to be ashamed for such portrayal of supreme beings.
Hindu Jagruti Manch on its website has condemned the game by saying “This game has portrayed Hindu Goddess Kali Mata in very bad manner, with appearance as a combat porn-star. Kali Mata is highly revered Hindu Goddess and more than one billion Hindus worship her. Also it is grave of insult of Hindu Deities as Deities are not objects to be used for online game”

However IBN live has checked the videos of he game and said that there was no evidence of the goddess portrayed as a pornstar. It said that the goddess was clad in skimpy clothes bearing a resemblance to the Hollywood femme-fatales but possibly not the deity worshiped by more than a billion people.
Hi Rez COO Todd Harris had however rejected arrogantly the claims of the protesting groups by saying that Hinduism's concept of the single truth which can be represented in multiple physical manifestations could possibly mean that all the gods in the game and outside it could be Hindu.
He also said that they were only going to include more deities in their games in the next versions.

Rajan Zed, President of Universal Society of Hinduism, has urged Hi Rez to reconsider the portrayal of gods in the game and that he has to remove them, especially Kali referring to the depiction as Pronographic Style. He also said that the game makers should bear in mind that the issues related to faith are sensitive and design their games accordingly since they can make an impression on the kids, teens and other youngsters who play the games. It has the potential to disrupt the beliefs of the players causing misunderstandings, he said.
