Rahul Gandhi to assume important and a bigger role would take some time but he has already made his troops ready for the battle by promoting them to the mainstream
Four members of the Youth Congress, who were all known to be Rahul's wards, have been made the members of the party in their respective states. Their prmotion comes in a time just before the Prince makes his move from the dormant stage to an important position in the party or the government as the de facto Congress numero uno.
Baptu Chakraborty, Amarendra Singh Raja, Paresh Dhanani and Jothimani who were all general secretaries in the Youth Congress have been appointed as the state units in the mainstream party. Chakraborty for Tripura, Raja for Punjab and Dhanani for Gujarat would be the new general secretaries in their states while Jothimani has become the new president of Mahila Congress in Tamil Nadu.
Youth Congress's moves to become an independent entity has evoked fear in the party elites. After the election of the youth as the office-bearers the senior leaders are worried that the youngsters could replace them soon.
