3000 pilgrims marooned near Badrinath

On Wednesday night, at least 3000 pilgrims were stranded near Badrinath in Uttarakhand after a few landslides. There were three landslided reported in the areas.

The Border Roads Organization, BRO, of the Army had to take into action to make the roads accessible to people again.

The continuous landslides have been preventing the authorities to open up the roads, the Senior Superintendent of Police Renuka Devi said speaking to NDTV. However, the stranded pilgrims were being given the basic facilities and needs. They were also provided shelter in the local villages.

Authorities have asked people not to use the Joshimath and Hemkund roads until they clear up as pilgrims still remain stranded i the area.
