IIT Kharagpur professor Pradip Bhowmik accidentally rammed into a motorcycle which injured a 2 year old girl who was travelling along with her father near the institute on Sunday night. The girl's family had alleged that the professor was not sober. Police had seized the vehicle but had not arrested the professor since the family had not lodged any complaint.

At 8pm in the night Pradip, who works at the rural development centre of the IIT, was going back to the campus who hit a motorcycle at Prem Bazar 3km from the campus. But fortunately the the motorcyclist escaped without a scratch.

Later he had on his way hit another bike of Debabrata Adhikari and injured his daughter Deblina who was seated behind. She was taken to the Kharagpur hospital for treatment. The car was impounded and kept at the Hijili police station.
