On Wednesday, the completely bankrupt airlines Kingfisher had to cancel over 30 flights from Delhi and Mumbai due to a strike by the employees who were not paid their salaries for the past five months at least.
22 flights in Delhi were canceled and the rest nine were from Mumbai, the sources said.
The section of the protestors in the strike involved pilots, engineers and many others who were all deprived of their salaries for the past five to six months.
The board of the Kingfisher Airlines is scheduled to meet today in Delhi to discuss the finances before the quarterly results are announced. The meeting according to reliable sources is to be held in a five-star-hotel in south-west Delhi
This is not the first time the services of the flights have been interrupted due to strikes and protests by the employees due to the salary delays.
There had been a financial-crunch for the company since a year already and the effect was directly impacting the sincere employees pockets. The number of the affected employees is also not a small figure, just like the debts incurred.
"We just can't work without being paid for such a long time. Hence we had decided to go on a strike" a pilot has said. The timing of the strike coincides with the monsoon session of the Parliament which has already begun today.
The employees are trying to be heard by the Parliament so that their sufferings and plight would be brought into the light of the politicians.
