Mohammed Hamid Ansari had taken his swearing-in ceremony for his second term as the Vice-President consecutively today after the President Pranab Mukherjee had sworn him in.

Pranab Mukherjee had administered the oath at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan in a grand ceremony. The swearing-in follows his huge victory over his opponent and NDA candidate, Jaswant Singh when he was elected the Vice-President.

490 of the 728 valid votes which is 67% of the votes which is way greater than the 238 votes secured by Jaswant Singh.

In his grand victory he had secured more victories than he did in his previous victory for the 2007 term. His win was a collective effort of Congress and its allies in the UPA, Nationalist Congress Party, DMK and the National Conference.
