Man beheaded in train as people watch

A 37 year old man was publicly beheaded in a crowded train compartment of the 53011 Up Katwa-Azimgunj Passenger while it was passing near the Bazarsau station in Murshidabad on Monday. This left the other passengers inthe compartment terrified and in panic. The police are still looking for an eyewitness who can reconstruct the details of the incident.

The murder took place at 3 pm in the afternoon but it was not until 6:30 pm in the evening that the GRP team had come to claim the body in the compartment.
The deceased was identified as Khokon Ghosh, who resided in Kolguria village in Murshidabad.

The guard, Sunit Chakraborty, had stopped the train braking it after he heard a commotion on the train between the starter and advanced starter signals of Bazarsau station (176 km from Howrah and 32 km from Katwa in Burdwan). He was horrified by the sight in the compartment, which was the last but second compartment.

The head was completely separated from rest of the body as blood spilled everywhere. The driver and the officials were immediately alerted at the Bazarsau station. It was pushed back to the station as it could not proceed further with a dead body nor stay between both the stations.

A few sources had also said that the terrified passengers had not meddled with the killers who simply walked away. They only fled in fear to other compartments.
Katwa region was not new to such crimes. One incident on February 26 took place as a few goons had got onto a passenger train and looted passengers as they proceeded further to drag a woman and raper her.
