6,700 kg of rotten laddoos in Shiridi disposed in a pit

At the holy Sai Baba Temple at Shiridi, the Food and Drug Administration, FDA, team had disposed of over 6,700 Kg of laddoos after the devotees complained.

On the 25 August, a few devotees had said that the holy offering, prasad, Ladoos were tasting bitter and also had a fowl odor which was not the case generally for the sweets made at the temple. They had raised doubts about the ghee, clarified butter, being fowl in the rotten prasad.

Committee members of the temple trust, including Ahmednagar-based district judge Jayant Kulkarni and Collector Sanjeev Kumar had immediately acted after the complaints. They too had tasted the laddoos and seconded the opinion of the people suspecting the involvement of the ghee manufacturer and supplier.

The FDA officials disposed of a stock of 6,796 kg laddoos worth Rs 8.15 lakh in a pit near the trust of the temple. At the holy shrine, samples of the ghee that was used was taken to laboratories for testing by the FDA.
