The rejoining of work of two police officials within just 12 hours of suspension on Wednesday have created a few doubts on the working of the city police on Wednesday.
The police told that sub inspectors Jaiveer Singh and Jaswinder Kaur were suspended on Wednesday morning after a special raid identified that they were absent at the special check-posts in different places in the city. The nakas which were set up to check the two wheelers for suspicious activities after numerous complaints of chain snatching have been registered.
"Surprise raids at nakas were conducted by senior officials of police and both officers were not present there. They were immediately suspended and a departmental probe was ordered against them," a police official said.
He added that the suspended officials had individually presented their cases to the senior police officials and that they have left the sport only in case of emergency work. They were reinstated immediately by evening after their excuses were considered and suspension was revoked. They had been warned however.
This incident points out a needle at the casual attitude of the Chandigarh police towards their work of protecting the citizens and assisting them.
