Maria Montessori was an Italian physician and an educationalist who's name had become extremely popular from the "Montessori" schools which all derive the name from her name originally. Today is the 142 birth anniversary of the visionary who had brought immense change to the education system around the world. Her birthday had been commemorated with a Google doodle on the search engine where all the tools of educational were formed into the name Google as its logo.

Needless to say Montessori system of schooling had been taken up by countless schools across the world. This proved to be a way of education honing the creative skills of the child while not restricting the child too much.

She was born on August 31, 1870, and Maria was also the first Italian woman to get a degree in medicine. At theUniversity of Rome she had graduated in 1896.

In 1907 she had initially opened a pre-school for kids and was extremely successful. She had started the Montessori schools in which she traveled to different countries such as India and spread her ways of education. She spent her time in our country from 1939 to 1946.

On May 6, 1952, Montessori died of a cerebral haemorrhage in the Netherlands at the age of 81.
