After Time magazine, it's Washington Post, which published a derogatory article on the Indian prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. The article states that the prime minister's image was dithering and ineffectual bureaucrat presiding over a deeply corrupt government. It even said that India's silent prime minister becomes a tragic figure. Further, Mr. Manmohan Singh was described as a shy, softspoken 79-year-old person.
Entire India was upset this time to note this derogatory article against the prime minister. The Information and Broadcasting Minister Ms. Ambika Soni told the press that how could a US daily take the matter so lightly and publish something about the prime minister of another country. She said the government would seek an apology from the the daily.
Accordingly, the prime minister's office (PMO) has sent in a letter to the Washington Post addressing Simon, the Indian bureau chief of Washington post. The letter asked the daily to tender an apology for publishing the article on Indian prime minister. Meanwhile, Simon said he would not tender apology and he and his paper would stand by the article. He even stressed that the article was extensively researched and was balanced.

Earlier, Time Magazine published a photo of Manmohan Singh on its cover page and tagged him as an underachiever. The media observers in India were of the opinion that US media was trying to target interfere with the governance and malign the image of the political leaders of the country globally. Well, is it an another example of yellow journalism? May be yes, said some journalism professors.
